As the owner and founder of Moore Martini Medical and Moore Martini Apparel, Kathy A. Moore has earned many credits to her name. In 1985, Kathy earned a BA in biology-pre med technology and she earned an MBA in marketing and sales in 1990.

Here is Kathy’s story:

My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2002 for which she underwent radiation treatments for advanced bone cancer and breast cancer.

Working in the health care profession and bringing my company from operating on a shoe-string budget to developing a team of loyal, dedicated professionals to aid me in every aspect of my business, I have a passion to “give back.” I wish to honor my mother by “giving back.” I have an unwavering belief that we all must contribute to the bettering of our communities. We must all socially contribute to our communities and society as a whole. Through this commitment to community and society, the WIGS program was born.

Although my mother did not suffer with hair loss during her cancer treatments, she was debilitated and weakened, and I did ultimately lose her to the disease. I have had many friends and family members who have suffered with the disease as well. My friend, Eileen, who is pictured on our WIGS program banner on our home page, is the first recipient to benefit from our fledgling W.I.G.S. program.

When Eileen first started her chemotherapy, she began to lose her hair. She knew that this was a possibility, and even through the nausea and general feelings of malaise, Eileen had a husband and family to care for. As a wife and mother, Eileen suffered a loss of confidence, wondering if her husband would still love her. Although awesomely supportive of their mother, and even though Eileen was comfortable with the turbans and a wrapped head, it was obvious to me that for special events such as graduations or sporting events, Eileen’s daughters were embarrassed to have her go anywhere with them.

Seeing the delight and joy on Eileen’s face and eyes the day she was fitted with her wig ensured me that I was on the right track as far as being able to “give back” and honor my mother. Eileen expressed that the hair was light and airy and she felt as though she was given a new life! There is no better reward!!

I embrace the concept of personal enhancement and realize that fighting cancer affects a woman’s entire being, mind, body, heart, and soul.
